  Franklin Legacy Fund

Coaching & Consulting

Mission Statement

The mission of the Franklin Legacy fund is to leave our community stronger than we found it by providing promising non-profits with seed funding and other support – be it information, expertise, systems, structure and/or staffing – to stabilize their operations and ensure their success in the future. It is our belief that strong non-profits are the backbone of healthy communities.  We apply our knowledge and resources to nurture the growth of non-profits that meet crucial community needs.

Are you looking to add meaning to your life?  Are you feeling like it’s time to consider how you can make a difference in this world of ours?

Susie Franklin, president and founder of The Franklin Legacy Fund, is pleased to announce a new,  pro-bono consulting service for those interested in learning about effective, strategic philanthropy.

Classes & Workshops

To expand our impact beyond financial support, the staff of the Franklin Legacy Fund draws upon the knowledge and expertise of our staff to offer coaching and workshops that enhance the effectiveness of the organizations we support. Our signature workshop, "Creating a Vision of Greatness," guides participants in documenting their dreams for their organization at a specific time in the future and using that Vision as a template for moving into the future. Creating a Vision is an invaluable tool in establishing collective clarity and setting a course that everyone in the organization supports and works toward. The foundation also offers Board Development workshops including "Begging for Beginners," an inspiring, practical and effective approach to fund-raising.

Stress Reduction

Non-profit leadership, staff and volunteers often find themselves feeling burned out by the demands of their missions coupled with fundraising and keeping an organization running effectively, often with limited staff.

In recognition of the unique challenges of running a non-profit, the Franklin Legacy Fund offers stress reduction consultation and workshops for executives, staff and board members. The workshops are facilitated by Sandra Leader, a minister, author and 30-year meditator
trained as a meditation teacher, who has taught classes, workshops and led retreats for nearly 20 years. Workshop participants are offered a
variety of stress-reduction methodologies, including Mindfulness meditation, as well as quick-but-reliable techniques to relieve tension in the moment and return immediately to a more balanced frame of mind. Offerings are tailored to the needs of each organization.

Visioning & Co-Mentoring Program

Picture
The Franklin Legacy Fund offers Visioning Workshops free of cost to help qualifying organizations bring to fruition the dreams they have to make the world a better place. Visioning is an essential first step in launching any new venture -- the process of taking an idea out of the realm of imagination and beginning to make it concrete.

The Franklin Legacy Fund team trained in this process at Zingtrain, the educational arm of Zingerman’s Deli in Ann Arbor, Mich., a community of 10 unique businesses, with 700 employees and a projected 60 million dollars in annual revenue.  Zingerman’s, which has been featured on the front page of the New York Times for its unique management approach, has been called “the coolest small company in America,” by Inc. Magazine.

Graduates of our Visioning and Board Development workshops have the opportunity to participate in our co-mentoring program, which is designed to help them support one another in staying the course -- in rolling out their visions, in keeping them alive, and in implementation, as well as utilizing the fund-raising tools offered in the "Begging for Beginners" workshop.
